Where
Back to playing on Sundays again, this time at 5:00pm on the North Shore. Infact we don't play on any day other than a Sunday until March.
Wear
The Blades of Steel wear neo postmodern-Oiler jerseys, not the nice blue and orange ones from 1988 when they were champions but the navy, orange, red and gold threads of the current, pre-Reebok, regime. The Blacksheep wear their virgin white wool. Can everyone make sure to bring white 1988 LA Kings socks?
Us & Them
The Blacksheep have never played the Blades of Steel, although, back in the day I'm sure all of the us played the old Nintendo and arcade version of the game with the same name. Our opposition looks to mirror this years Tampa Bay Lightning, a small handful of guys that are hands-down better than the rest of the team and less than stellar goaltending. Three guys [#19, #33 & #?] stir the drink and the rest just fill time on the ice while the big three catch their breath.
What about us? Last game only 6 Blacksheep regulars came out to pasture [big thanks to 2 Moroons, 1 Guard, Wheeler & 48 save Jason Hanson]. We played a textbook, if not tiring, hard skating - quick shifting - bench shutting up'ing [hard to yap when you can't breathe], fun game of hockey. We were beaten 4-2 by the better team but the grinders and muckers who played last game saw first hand how a simple team approach can make any Division 7 team beatable. Right Gavin. How we do depends on how many guys want to come out and compete.
**UPDATE**
Actually, back when we were just a flock of wee sheerling lambs, we were schooled in the evil edge of the blade:
Sun,Jan 8 2006 Blacksheep vs. Blades of Steel 3-6 L
Mon, Feb 27 2006 Blacksheep vs. Blades of Steel 2-4 L
Aye, but 'twas o'er 2 laps o' the sun since our coats were clipped by these rust-ridden rink-rats...in the 'tween years, the fold has grown strong, & wise to the blade...the time to rise up against the oppressive knife is nigh! Let us blind these 'blades' with our new brilliant white spring coats (and a few dazzling goals!)
long story short i will be there & i think it would be fun to work real hard & win!

I'm in.
I feel another goal in the lucky red stick.
If I could I would love to. I'm stuck in Reno this past weekend. We had car trouble, and then were snowed in by the storm of the century(so the renoites say).
