Wear
The Blacksheep will wear black vintage LA Kings style jerseys circa 1989. The Guard counter with vintage Buffalo Sabres style jerseys circa 1979. Don't forget that Rob Allen wears his official Team Canada pants with enemy this game.
Us & Them
The Guard are the class of Division 7 but our numbers suggest we Sheep have the ability to dethrone them. They have taken more penalties [gasp!], scored less goals and given up more goals than we have. Therefore, if on Sunday we take fewer penalties, score more goals and give up less goals we should stand a pretty good chance of winning.
How are we going to do that?
1. EFFORT- a concept that we did not display enough of in our last game where we were shut out 4-0.
2. HOCKEY SMARTS- i.e. stop clearing our zone by limply throwing the puck up the middle of the ice [why not just call it a pass to their defencemen].
3. SHOTS ON NET- last game we were credited with 17 on net which we would all agree is a stretch. 5 shots in both the 1st and 2nd periods is not going to win us [or the hometown Canucks for that matter] many games.
4. DIRECTED AGGRESSION- last game 'the bench' focused more time yelling instructions at each other than we did on playing hard against the other team.
Both teams have been shut out by the Van Wonders in the month of January so we must be pretty similar, no?
